You will also compare alternative ways of using the limited resources that countries and individuals possess and consider how efficient and/or fair such alternatives are. Behind these alternatives lies the fundamental economic problem - scarce resources and infinite wants. Specific Entry Requirements: C grades in GCSE Mathematics and English Language. What will I learn? Introduction to Markets and Market Failure Considers questions such as: who sets prices for cars? Why are footballers paid more than nurses? Are some supermarkets too powerful? What happens when markets go wrong? The National and Global Economy Investigates national and international issues such as who caused the global recession, how countries like the UK get in to debt and why investing in young people's education is key. Business Behaviour and the Labour Market Looks at the activities of firms and their actions when part of different market structures with specific focus on how their economic output affects their efficiency. A Global Perspective Focuses on globalisation, international trade, development and sustainability. Why are some countries less developed than others? How can developing economies be supported?
