Performing Arts focuses on dance, drama and music at a high standard, encouraging development of techniques and performance skills. The course encourages pupils to be independent thinkers and develops highly toned analytical and creative thinking skills. Pupils learn how to communicate effectively with others and work constructively in groups to pressured deadlines. Performing Arts is a subject that teaches invaluable tools, developing the ability to articulate ideas and performance skills. The course consists of 6 units ranging from advanced performance practice in a chosen field to planning and organising a public performance. Pupils become familiar with different styles of drama and dance, developing skills as performers and also have the opportunity to create their own theatre and choreographies; they are encouraged to explore a wide range of compositional techniques. Throughout the course professional theatre and dance companies and professional practitioners will visit the students to facilitate workshops. Students will have the opportunity to showcase work in professional venues as part of borough and country performances.
