(Business Studies requires an inquisitive mind and a genuine interest in how businesses achieve success. In addition, it requires a real interest in the environment in which businesses operate, for example, how interest rates can affect a business's success and why technology can help a business beat all competition. Whichever career students choose to follow, they will need to understand how a business works, whether they work for themselves or for others. This course will teach students about the inner workings of a business and the key decisions needed to make a profit. Students will be studying a subject that is dynamic and ever changing, and will acquire a range of important skills including research and presentational skills. Students will study the following key topic areas: Organisations and the markets they serve The internal workings and management of organisations. The process of decision-making and how business behaviour is influenced by a range of people and organisations What outside factors influence the operations of a business Techniques to analyse and solve business problems The aims and objectives of the Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Advanced GCE in Business are to enable students to: Develop an enthusiasm for studying business Gain an holistic understanding of business in a range of contexts Develop a critical understanding of organisations and their ability to meet society's needs and wants Generate enterprising and creative approaches to business opportunities, problems and issues Apply numerical skills in a range of business context Successful completion of the A Level Business course could lead to a place in higher education (university) or a career in Marketing e.g. Advertising, and/or Brand Management, Sales; Human Resource Management e.g. Recruitment and Training; Customer Services; Strategic Business Management; or managing and controlling the financial performance of a business e.g. Accountancy.)
