English Language and Literature is a very popular A Level subject nationally, and with good reason, as students already possess key skills and an interest in the subject from Key 3 and GCSE studies, but it also offers something significantly different from the A Level Literature course. English Language and Literature at A Level integrates literary and linguistic study, encouraging students to engage creatively and critically with a wide range of texts, considering the way language choices create representations but also encouraging students' skills as producers and interpreters of language. Words create worlds, both in literature and beyond, and this subject offers the opportunity to explore this in depth.
