With a strong focus on the application of practical IT in the world of work, this course will provide you with the skills and knowledge vital to any candidate for higher education or the world of commerce. In today's world, where IT is constantly changing, individuals will increasingly need technological and information literacy skills. These skills are now as essentials the traditional skills of numeracy and literacy. The demand is high for people with good IT skills in today's job market. The industry is also in demand of female with IT skills. BTEC IT encourages learners to become discerning users of IT. It allows them to develop a broad range of IT skills, knowledge and understanding. BTEC IT would suit someone who enjoys problem solving, decision making and handling data. Someone who is able to carry out investigation using a range of ICT tools and someone who can communicate effectively. What will I study? The course will focus on: computer systems Information Systems for the business world the impact of IT on the world of business e-commerce website production and management On the course you will: develop your existing IT skills to maintain and develop computer systems study the impact of IT on organisations develop the skills required to set up a commercial website Method of assessment Assessment for each of the six units is by a portfolio of work containing evidence showing that you have met each of the assessment criteria. Students will complete 3 mandatory units and 1 optional unit over the 2 years.
