A Level Year 1 What you'll study? 'A' Level Fine Art offers you an exciting opportunity to develop new skills and a deeper understanding of Art. You will study contemporary and historical Art whilst you build a large portfolio of artwork towards a given theme. Your portfolio will demonstrate your ability to experiment with a wide range of processes and techniques from drawing and painting to 3D, performance, new media and photography. Assessment You will be assessed on two units of work. Unit 1 will consist of a portfolio of work presented in sketchbooks and artworks to be displayed in an end of year exhibition. Unit 2 will consist of an 8 week research and development period culminating in an 8 hour practical exam over two 2 days. A Level Year 2 What you'll study? You will develop greater independence in year 2 and build on the skills you have developed in year 1. You will again produce a large portfolio of artwork however year 2 will give you the opportunity to develop artwork based on a personally-set theme which is of interest to you. As in year 1 your portfolio will demonstrate your ability to experiment with a wide range of processes and techniques but with a greater level of refinement and expertise.
