This is the preparatory course for the NVQ Level 1 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering. Learners work their way through the 3 vocational departments: Housekeeping, Food Service and Food Preparation. Once they have completed their rotation in each department they make a choice as to which area they would like to specialise in with regards to NVQ. Vocational training is delivered in Foxes Hotel which is open to the general public and provides a ‘live’ training ground. During the first year of the programme whilst working through their rotation, learners will be working not only on the subject specific units, but also the core units which are generic to each vocational department. The Pathway to Life Vocational Skills course spans the first, and into the second year of the programme. Progress is closely monitored by the Vocational Programme Manager and when an individual is ready they will progress onto the NVQ Level 1 in their chosen subject specific area.
