Music

UPDATED 20161018 13:35:14

This course is primarily academic in style, whilst still encompassing the practical skills developed at GCSE, including performance and composition. Music is an enjoyable subject and combines well with a great many others at Post-16 level. It is holistic in nature: helping to develop aural awareness and a detailed understanding of musical styles, and encouraging students to apply this knowledge to performance and composition tasks. Set tasks cover a broad range of styles, including Western Art Music, Musical Theatre, Popular Music and Jazz. It is a rewarding, challenging course from which many go on to study music at higher education.
