Functional Skills in English Level 1 gives students practical skills for the modern world and helps them get the most from life, learning and work. This specification aims to ensure students have good communication skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening. It assesses whether students can use these skills in everyday situations. The qualification focuses on developing reading skills and produce writing, using accurate grammar, punctuation and spelling, on a variety of subjects and in different styles. This course will include following instructions and explanations, obtaining information from different sources and presenting information and ideas to others. The course is delivered in a classroom environment using varied teaching and learning techniques, with a mixture of group activities, discussions and practical activities, leading to a final examination at the end of your learning. Upon achievement of this qualification, you could progress to English Level 2.
