Life Drawing - Summer School

UPDATED 20160317 16:24:10

Is this the right course for me? Ideally learners will have some previous life drawing experience and basic skills acquired on courses or as part of their formal education. The sessions are structured around a two day longer pose - there will be some warm up and compositional studies at the outset of Day 1. The range and level of techniques taught can be easily adapted to individual learner's requirements. What will I learn? The course will cover proportion, perspective, form, tone, composition and narrative. During the course you will work in a range of wet and dry media on a variety of supports looking at scale. The course will explore both analytical and expressive approaches to drawing. You can choose to work in monochrome, however, the course will include some basic colour theory and this you may choose to practice as the term progresses. Advanced students will be supported if they choose to paint. During the course you will work from a range of models. Work safely, effectively and economically. How will I learn? You will learn through undertaking a practical drawing exercises set by the tutor. This incorporates a combination of tutor demonstrations, individual research, handouts, feedback and advice to individuals, self evaluation and group discussions. Will I gain a qualification? You will not gain a formal qualification but you may receive a Certificate of Attendance and Achievement from your tutor. What can I do next? You might wish to sign up for Life Drawing, Figure Drawing or Portrait classes. What do I need to bring to the classes? Please wear comfortable clothes that you can move around in/ spill paint on and flat shoes. Lunch is a good idea as only snacks and drinks are available on site. Can I talk to someone about my course before I start it? It is usually possible to put you directly in touch with the tutor if a member of the Community Learning MK staff cannot answer your query.
