Japanese - Moving on to Improvers

UPDATED 20160317 16:19:46

Is this the right course for me? This course is suitable for those who have studied approximately 30/40 hours of Japanese or equivalent in the recent past and who wish to maintain their level before the long summer break sets in. What will I learn? By the end of the course, you will be able to ask and answer a variety of questions. Repeat/say/understand a series of short sentences in the past and present. Give simple opinions and reactions. Understand and use numbers with confidence in various situations. You will consolidate your previous learning based on real-life situations in the country e.g. eating and drinking, shopping, visiting the doctor. The emphasis will be on speaking and listening, and developing language structures. How will I learn? There should be no more than 16 in the class and you will often work in pairs or in small groups. We will use various activities to engage you in learning e.g. responding to flashcards, playing games, listening to CDs, taking part in surveys and role-plays. Will I gain a qualification? You may start or continue climbing the Languages Ladder and gain a certificate to indicate the level you have reached. What can I do next? You may then choose to progress to an Improvers course (20 weeks) in the autumn term. What do I need to bring to the classes? Pens, paper and a folder. Your tutor will advise you on a suitable course book during the first lesson. Can I talk to someone about my course before I start it? It is usually possible to put you directly in touch with the tutor if a member of the Community Learning MK staff cannot answer your query.
