The Edexcel A level in Music has been designed to enable students to experience a wide range of musical skills including performing, composing and analysing, as well as developing an understanding of the historical and contextual uses of music. Two areas of study provide the range of music covered for each stage of the course: instrumental and vocal at AS, instrumental and applied for A2. For A2 students are required to produce two pieces of work selected from a range of composition briefs and/or technical studies covering the topics of Baroque counterpoint, Bach chorales and popular song. Our students have access to the Music Department's Applemac ICT suite (Garageband, Sibelius and Cubase/Reason software).
