Biology is the study of living things. It is a multi-disciplinary subject that includes such varied topics as Human Physiology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Ecology and Disease. Biology is a popular choice at 'A2'with there usually being four sets in Year 13. The course is based on the current NEW AQA Specification (in Y13). A2 Biology is assessed by means of two examinations, which are sat during May/June of Year 13. Unit 4(1hr 30 mins) is worth 16.7% of total A level marks and Unit 5 (2hr 15mins) is worth 23.3% of total A level marks. 20% of the total mark for (AS + A2) is awarded internally on a student's performance in the Practical Skills Assessment and Investigative Skills Assessment.
