English Literature A level

The course includes the study of poetry and prose, including texts from 1800 to the modern day. Students study one prescribed core literary heritage novel and one further novel or novella. They will also study a range of drama texts, from 1300 to 1800, including Shakespeare. Studying Literature at A-Level requires determination, organisation and a willingness to discover things for yourself, particularly at A2. Assessment: Students are assessed by a combination of essay based coursework (50%) and examinations (50%). At A2 you will carry out an independent study into either. You will also study poetry, prose or drama.
