What topics will you study? In psychology you will study a variety of aspects of everyday life and the explanations for why a person might behave in a particular way. For example, you will investigate the brain and how its processes affect our behaviour, the reasons why we form relationships with particular people, why we forget things and what causes a person to have phobias or depression. In addition, you will develop a good understanding of the main psychological approaches, including behaviourism and humanism, and learn how to conduct psychological investigations. What skills do you need to be successful? You will need to develop strong analytical skills in psychology so that you can criticise research and theories. Therefore, you have to be able to question psychological evidence and present balanced arguments. There is a lot of content to learn but it relates well to everyday life, so an interest in what goes on around you will really help. What career or university courses does this course lead to? Psychology is great course for future employment and university courses, often treated as a science subject.
