We use the AQA exam board as it is designed to cover both language and literature with an equal balance enabling students to see how linguistic and literary methods are related and to explore these links in their work. What do you need? • A real desire to explore how a wide range of fiction & non-fiction texts “work”; in other words, how meaning is communicated through a range of linguistic and literary techniques. • A genuine interest in how all writing is shaped by context; why writers chose to present their content through a variety of modes, and how intended audiences may respond. • A creative flair in producing your own texts by using many of the genre conventions studied and experimenting with language choices to create your own effects on a reader.
