This course is based on textiles and fashion as an art form. You will need to be enthusiastic about drawing and design. Enthusiasm, creativity, originality and self-discipline are all important attributes. You will learn practically through a series of hands-on workshops exploring both decorative and constructed processes. Techniques such as transfer printing, shibori, machine embroidery, silk paper making and weaving will be covered. There will be many ways in which you can develop personal and inventive ways of working, supported by presentations on artists, designers and craftspeople. You will also draw inspiration and understanding from historical costume and multicultural textiles.
