BTEC Nationals are Level 3 qualifications designed to provide highly specialist work-related qualifications in a range of vocational sectors. The qualification is a two year course consisting of various units. These give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to prepare for employment. The qualification will provide career development opportunities for learners already in work, and allow those wishing to progress into higher education such as a university degree course or professional development programme. This course is equivalent to three A Levels. The course consists of between 18 - 20 different study units which are selected from a substantial list. Programme leaders and course tutors will decide upon the units best suited to the group of learners on the course, subject to the requirements of the qualification.
