Economics

UPDATED 20160317 09:25:39

The basic economic problem is how do we meet the wants and needs of society, when we live in a world with too few resources? This is a massive question - both practical and philosophical. Economists try to solve it using a wide range of techniques drawn from both the sciences and the humanities. This makes economics the science of human decision making. Economics explains how people interact within markets to get what they want or accomplish certain goals. Since economics is a driving force of human interaction, studying it often reveals why people, businesses and governments behave the way they do. It is a fascinating and challenging subject which leads to a remarkable range of careers and is hugely respected by top Universities.
