We assume no previous knowledge of the subject, and the main qualities needed to succeed are enthusiasm and determination. There is a heavy emphasis on the discussion of legal rules, such as murder, and their application to resolve legal problems. Students have to develop their own arguments regarding legal liability using real cases to support their points, and individual research and presentation skills are developed in order to aid understanding and evaluation of legal institutions. The style of examination at AS level is a combination of essay questions and legal problems.
