This is a course for students who wish to continue their studies in Science and enjoy using aspects of all of the disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics. The course centres on how the subject relates to modern technology in the world around you, building on the how science works aspects of GCSE, rather than the theoretical principles of the individual science subjects at A Level. It is suitable for students who think they may wish to pursue a career working in a scientific laboratory or working in a technical job, either directly after A level or after a Higher Education course. Because this course will have been developed in collaboration with universities it will allow students to progress directly into laboratory or technical employment or into higher education to study courses with a high content of science in area such environmental monitoring, sports, health and care. Year 2 (equivalent to A level): This is likely to include at least one portfolio and an examination.
