The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) was established in 1980 and is sponsored by the four main accounting bodies. It seeks to meet the educational and training needs of a wide range of trainees including those employed in accounting in a variety of organisations and those aspiring to change their occupation. When you have achieved your level 2 AAT you can progress to the AAT level 3 programme should you also complete the computerised accounts unit. The qualification can lead to study for other professional bodies like the Chartered Institute of Management Accountant, The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, and The Association of Chartered Certified Accounts.
