What will I do on this study programme? This study programme gives you the opportunity to explore the key themes and concepts of sport. It aims to provide a broad programme of study, which is directly related to the changing needs of employers in specific areas of the sport, leisure and recreation industries. This qualification is made up of a number of different units. These units will include 3 core units fitness for sport and exercise (external assessment), practical sports performance, carrying out a sports-related project. Plus 4 mandatory units the mind and sports performance, the sports performer in action, training for personal fitness, anatomy and physiology for sports performance (external assessment). And 4-6 specialist units designing exercise programmes, facility operations for sport and leisure, work experience in sport, leading sports activities, promotion and sponsorship in sport, lifestyle and well-being, injury and the sports performer, running a sports event, the sport and active leisure industry, profiling sports performance, the provision of sport and active leisure, sport community volunteering. This qualification will form part of a study programme, which includes exclusive access to the Sports Academy and Enrichment programme, tutorial support, employability and study skills. Maths and English is a fundamental element of this study programme. Skills in Maths and English will be embedded into your academic/ vocational learning. If you do not have a grade C in Maths and/or English you will attend a discrete GCSE or Functional Skills class as part of your weekly timetable. How will I be assessed? This qualification is assessed by online exams, coursework, which includes projects, assignments, presentations and practical activities.
