What will I do on this study programme? This is a practical work-based study programme that combines both academic study and the development of practical skills and knowledge. It is made up of 18 units which include the following Analysis of sports performance, the physiology of fitness, psychology for sport performance, sport coaching, sports development, exercise for specific groups, principles of anatomy and physiology in sport, sports nutrition, fitness testing for sport and exercise, practical team sports, sports injuries. This qualification will form part of a study programme, which includes exclusive access to the sports academy and enrichment programme, Maths and English, tutorial support, employability and study skills. maths and English is a fundamental element of this study programme. Skills in Maths and English will be embedded into your academic/ vocational learning. If you do not have a grade C in Maths and/or English you will attend a discrete GCSE or Functional Skills class as part of your weekly timetable. How will I be assessed? This qualification is assessed by exams and coursework, which includes projects, assignments, presentations and practical activities. Your tutors set the coursework for all internally assessed units. What options do I have after successfully completing? Progress to Sport Studies, Foundation Degree at Weston College Personal Training, YMCA, Level 3 qualification. Job/career opportunities A wide range of career paths in the sport and leisure industry, which is one of the fastest-growing sectors of the UK economy. These career paths may include fitness instructing and training, sports leadership and coaching. Learners with a BTEC in Sport often progress onto undergraduate (degree) study to develop their skills as a professional Coach or to train as a PE teacher.
