Psychology is a highly popular subject at both A-level and degree level. In addition to providing you with an understanding of the causes of behaviour, studying Psychology will allow you to develop and demonstrate a deep appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of scientific methods as well as competence and confidence in a variety of practical, mathematical and problem-solving skills. The course will touch upon the main areas of Psychology and how they account for a wide range of behaviours. You will learn how to conduct your own research and discuss how Psychology helps to deal with contemporary issues within society, for example the inaccuracy of memory recall in eye-witness testimony. The skills you will acquire during the course lend themselves to many pathways however careers specific to the subject involve those within Forensic Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Midwifery, Social Work, Teaching and the Police Force.
