From investigating how one substance can be changed drastically into another, to researching a new wonder drug to save millions of lives, the opportunities that Chemistry provides are endless. You will study three main areas; Organic Chemistry: the study of the compounds of carbon. These compounds are used to make a vast range of useful products – plastics, fuels, pharmaceuticals, food and all living things. Physical Chemistry: the “hows and whys” of chemistry. The study of reactions as a whole and how they behave and Inorganic Chemistry: the Chemistry of all the other elements in the periodic table, their reactions and the compounds that they form. A-level Chemistry provides skills that are of use in many areas of employment and is routinely required for progression onto numerous higher educational courses including: Chemical
