This vocational course, equivalent to three A Levels, will appeal to you if you have a passion for the business world or would like to develop your entrepreneurial skills. Over the two years you will gain a practical understanding of how businesses organise themselves, studying areas including the business environment, planning, business accounting and finance, human resource management, marketing and retail. You will also examine how businesses market their products and services, how they recruit and develop their staff, how and why they conduct market research, and how they communicate. Although there is no specific work experience unit, students have the opportunity to go on placements during the second year of the course. This course is very demanding in terms of the coursework required from you. Good organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines are vitally important to be successful. You will be internally assessed through the submission of assignments, role-plays and in-class assessments which accounts for approximately 80% of your grade. However from 2016, approximately 20% of your work will be externally assessed through an examination. The details of this are still to be confirmed by Edexcel.
