Level 2 CACHE Certificate in an Introduction to Early Years Education and Care

This qualification is made up of 16 units which are based on skills and knowledge. These units cover a range of subjects including the role of the Early Years Practitioner, childrens play and development, supporting positive behaviour, health and safety, equality and inclusion and safeguarding childrens welfare. You will attend a nursery or pre-school setting for work experience for two days a week in order to gain practical experience in a real work environment. English and Maths GCSEs will be studied by learners who have not previously achieved these subjects.You will learn through a mixture of lectures and practical work experience. You will be required to attend college for three days per week and a work placement for two days per week. All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This will include direct observation within the workplace, professional discussions and written tasks set by CACHE.This qualification is to prepare learners to work with children between birth and five years. It will cover a range of job roles in statutory, private and voluntary settings such as a nursery or pre-school assistant, classroom assistant or nanny. This programme is a great stepping stone for a Level 3 Childcare qualification and allows progression for those who have also achieved maths and English GCSE and have a positive tutor recommendation.
