Higher Apprenticeship in Accounting - Day Release

The Higher Apprenticeship in Accounting develops enhanced accountancy skills as well as developing the essential business skills required to operate effectively in the working environment. The Apprenticeship includes core accountancy units relating to; financial statements, budgeting, financial performance, internal controls and accounting systems plus a range of optional units to select from. In addition, there are business skills units relating to; working in teams, planning and delivering business communication activities, evaluating and improving own performance in a business environment, spreadsheet software, presentation software, delivery of presentations, organising and facilitating meetings and workshops, developing commercial awareness and managing project finances. You will achieve a Level 4 Diploma in Accounting and a Level 4 Diploma in Business Skills. Both qualifications are awarded by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT). The AAT is an internationally recognised professional body.You will learn through a combination of on- and off-the-job training. You will attend college one day per week during term time and spend the rest of your time earning and learning in the workplace. We may also be able to offer a distance learning option for some units. The Apprenticeship has a duration of 18 months. Your progress will be continuously monitored and supported by an Apprenticeship Achievement Officer. Higher apprentices can progress onto higher education and/or onto qualifications relating to memberships in the following professional bodies: Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).
