There are several mandatory units, tailored to job roles that either do or do not involve working directly with food preparation and cooking. In addition to these mandatory units, there are a large number of optional units that can be undertaken to complete the qualification. Units include, but are not limited to: -Serve food at the table -Provide a silver service -Serve alcoholic and soft drinks -Prepare and serve cocktails -Prepare and cook fish -Prepare and cook meat and poultry -Collect linen and make beds -Cleaning and servicing a range of housekeeping areas -Deal with arrival of customers -Prepare customer accounts and deal with departures -Resolve customer service problems The units you choose to study will depend on your specific job role, allowing you to tailor the qualification to your specific requirements. An assessor will also visit the work place, to carry out observations, professional discussions, and to set assignments. It is anticipated that the course will take one year to complete. This qualification can also be completed as a work based Apprenticeship.Once you have enrolled onto the programme you will be assigned an assessor that will visit you in the workplace regularly. They will complete assessment plans and reviews with you to keep you on target. They will support you in the collection of the required evidence needed for your qualification through different assessment methods such as; professional discussion, observations, written questions, verbal questions, witness statements and any assignments.Candidates can progress to a Level 3 Diploma in Hospitality Supervision; it may also be useful to complete the CIEH Food Hygiene qualification.
