You will be required to achieve 3 mandatory units to gain the full qualification: -Follow health and safety practice in the salon -Provide and maintain nail enhancements -Client care and communication in beauty related industries You will learn: Application of tip and overlay, natural nail overlay, maintenance and safe removal techniques using a liquid & powder system. Additional to this you will learn how to work in a safe environment, emergency procedures, how to complete a risk assessment and the importance of client care and how to provide effective communication in the industry. These are all level 2 graded units and are achieved through continued practical assessment, multiple choice exams in the nail technology and health & safety units, and a portfolio of evidence. You will be required to either work on each other in the sessions or on a nail trainer. HOME PRACTICE IS ESSENTIAL. Students are required to provide their own clients for practical assessments.The course is delivered on a part-time basis, one evening of 3.5 hours per week for 15 weeks totalling 52.5 hours in college (term time only). Additional to this you are required to commit to a minimum of 5 hours per week home study. During the academic year the department arranges for guest speakers from leading nail product companies to give presentations that you may wish to enrol on.Employment, college certificate in fibreglass and/or gel systems (1 day courses to be held on a Saturday), nail art or further beauty courses to enhance your skills.
