A level Textiles will give students the opportunity to develop design work from original drawings, experiment with threads and fabrics and realise the design into a finished piece of practical work. Students are required to work in one or more areas of Textiles, such as those listed below. They may explore overlapping areas and combinations of areas. • Constructed and installed textiles • Printed and/or dyed fabric materials • Domestic textiles, wallpaper and interior design • Fashion

Name: Textiles A Level Qualification title: GCE A Level in Art and Design Qualification type: Assessment The AS specification has 2 components: Component 1: Coursework Portfolio. Development of a coursework portfolio exemplifying work carried out during the AS course. Component 2: Externally-Set Assignment. An externally-set assignment, containing five different topics. Candidates choose one. At A2 candidates are required to build upon the knowledge, understanding and skills gained in the AS with greater depth of study. The A2 specification has 2 components: Component 1: Personal Investigation A personal investigation in which candidates develop work in response to an idea, issue, concept or theme of your choosing. Component 2: Externally-Set Assignment. An externally-set assignment containing eight topics, students select one.
