Level 2 Food Safety in Catering

The Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (QCF) is a qualification aimed at caterers and other food handlers. The qualification is intended for learners already working in catering and those who are preparing to work in the industry. Learners gaining this qualification will know that food safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking service and handling of food. Its topics are regarded by the Foods Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practice in the production of safe food.This qualification is ideal for anyone working in the catering and hospitality industry (or those about to start work in the industry). The HABC Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (QCF) is accredited and recognised internationally and has been developed to protect Topics covered - customers, brand reputation and profits, hazards and controls, food safety management and temperature controls, food poisoning control, personal hygiene, cleaning and disinfection, food pests and the role of the food handler in keeping food safe.This qualification is designed to assist those already working in the catering or hospitality industries, or for those learners training to gain employment into those industries.There are no prerequisites for this qualification. However there is an exam at the end of the course and it is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in English and Maths or equivalent. All learners must bring photographic identification to the assessment to be checked by the invigilator/assessor.This qualification is achieved by taking a one-day classroom-based course. It is assessed by a multiple-choice examination, where the candidate must answer at least 20 out of 30 questions correctly. The examination will take a maximum of 1 hour to complete.Individuals achieving this qualification can progress onto any of the HABC Level 3 Food Safety qualifications, which are ideal for those wishing to work in a supervisory role.
