BTEC Sport offers a varied approach to your studies including assignments, practical tasks and written tests. This balanced approach will allow you to showcase to future employers how you can apply your learning to practical everyday workplace challenges. The BTEC National Diploma course is a double award, equivalent to 2 A-levels. This course will give you flexibility and freedom to study other BTEC courses or A-levels. Students should have a genuine interest in sport since much of the course will involve linking the theoretical aspects of the course through sporting examples. You will not be directly assessed on your sporting ability, however, there is a range of practical elements to the course that you will be expected to participate in. You must complete a range of mandatory and optional units. These include: Anatomy and physiology; Fitness training and programming for health, sport, and well-being; Professional development in the sports industry; Fitness testing and training; Sports psychology; Coaching for sports performance; Practical sports performance; Technical and tactical awareness; The Athletes lifestyle; Sports performance profiling; Sports injury management; Rules, regulations and officiating in sport. Studying BTEC Sport opens up a range of future career pathways such as degrees in Sport Studies, Sports Therapy, Sports Science, Sports Coaching and Teaching. It can also lead to jobs or further training in the fitness and training industry or sports development and coaching.
