BTEC Level 3 : National Diploma in Health & Social Care

This subject can be broadly split into two themes: Health (the study of what can impact on the wellbeing and overall health of an individual); Social care (how the Government and other schemes put into place initiatives to improve the nation's health and wellbeing). The BTEC National Diploma course is a double award and is equivalent to two A Levels, taking up 2 options on your timetable. If you take this course you will also be expected to undertake a work experience unit, this will be carried out in a setting of your choice and will contribute to your final grade. This course will give you flexibility and freedom to study other BTEC courses or A-levels. The course will prepare you for a range of related occupations without limiting choice too early. It allows a flexible approach to learning through coursework and exams to prepare you for university and the career you wish to pursue. You will study a range of different topics all related to the Health and Social Care sector from the following options: Enquiries into Current Research, Human Lifespan Development, Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs, Nutritional Health, Physiological Disorders, Principles of Safe Practice. Promoting Public Health, Psychological Perspectives, Sociological Perspectives, Supporting Individuals with Additional Needs, Working in Health and Social Care. Studying the BTEC National Diploma in Health and Social Care can lead into employment (or further study) in Nursing, Midwifery, Social Work, Healthcare Assistant, or Teacher training.
