Philosophy and Ethics

This course is a study of the Philosophy and Ethics of Religion and Religious dialogue. Students will explore and evaluate the thought of influential philosophers including St Thomas Aquinas, Immanuel Kant and David Hume. They will be asked to question many aspects of religion including, the influence of different sources of authority, arguments for and against God’s existence, the validity of Christian responses to life after death, the relationship between religion and science and the concept of human free will. This is a thought provoking subject that results in lively discussion and dialogue that often continues beyond the classroom.
