Psychology is the scientific study of the human mind and behaviour. The course will introduce you to a wide range of theories that aim to explain various aspects of human behaviour and you will investigate the research evidence that supports the theories. It requires essay writing skills and the evaluation of scientific evidence as well as analysis of statistical data. The second year of the A-level allows you to further deepen your understanding of Psychology with a range of interesting topics including psychological explanations of human eating behaviour, theories of cognition and development, and Forensic Psychology. You will also develop an understanding of Issues and Debates in Psychology, research methods and statistics used in Psychology.
