The Sports Science and Advanced Research A-Level pathway is a two-year programme designed to run in collaboration with other A-level choices.  It develops the vocational skills and knowledge base of learners who have a keen interest in the science of sport but are keen to take their studies on to university. You will study in both practical and theoretical settings to understand advanced concepts in areas such as anatomy, physiology and psychology. You will also develop your skills in maths and English, which will support your main programme of study, help your future progression and enhance your life skills.

Name: Sports Science & Advanced Research Qualification title: BTEC Certificate in Sport and Exercise Sciences (QCF) Qualification type: Assessment Learners will build a portfolio based around evidence generated by the various assessment methods in each unit.  You are expected to work on multiple assessments at any one time and can expect to be assessed through: practical demonstration logbooks and performance records written reports and essays presentations workbooks discussions and vivas Maths and English will be assessed through a controlled assessment or final exam. Entry requirements

You will need to buy a kit.  The cost of this will be finalised at the start of the course but is expected to be in the region of £70.  An additional £30 is to be paid for the year-end celebration meal and group team building event. This money should be received before November.  There may be additional costs incurred for selected trips or visits. Yearly gym membership is offered at £50, with additional incentives included.
