Economics

UPDATED 20161118 13:23:43

There are insufficient resources to satisfy everyone’s wants. Choices have to be made by individuals, firms and governments. Economics is the study of how societies make these choices and decide how to allocate the world’s resources between competing uses. Economics is academic in its approach, combining readily with both arts and science subjects. Confidence in both Mathematics and English is an advantage as the examinations require a good standard of comprehension, fluency and the interpretation of statistical evidence. Topics may be analysed in the context of the UK, the European Union or the global economy; therefore an interest in current affairs is an advantage.
