Public Services - BTEC First Diploma

This course is suitable for anyone with an interest in one of the public service careers, such as Police, Fire, Ambulance (paramedics), Prison Service, HM Customs and Revenue or the Armed Forces. The aims of the BTEC First Diploma in Public Services are to provide learners with the opportunity to gain a broad knowledge and understanding of, and develop skills in, the Public Services sector. It also provides an ideal opportunity to support progression to Level 3 vocational or academic courses, or an apprenticeship.

All work will be continuously assessed (marked as we go along) through a variety of assignments - most will be written but there will be some presentations and some practical work. Most of your coursework will be individual but with some group tasks. Assignments (homework tasks) are generally completed outside College but some are set during class time and some will be completed away from the College site. Entry requirements

On days you have practical sessions you must bring sports kit, which includes a white t-shirt, navy or black tracksuit bottoms/shorts and trainers. In addition you will be expected to purchase items of uniform (hoodie, t-shirt) which will be worn on a regular basis including off-site visits. You must be prepared to join in all local visits for which a small contribution to travel costs may be required.
