There are two new qualifications available - an AS level to be completed in one year or an A-level to be completed in two years. AS-level and A-levels have the same course content in year 1. However, please note that transfer from one to the other is not possible at the end of your first year of study. Don't worry. This will be discussed in full with you at your personal interview which will be arranged with you upon receipt of your application. Physics endeavours to explain the nature of the physical world from sub-atomic particles to the whole universe. The process of discovery in physics is an intellectual challenge and source of enjoyment in its own right. It underlies much of modern technology such as new alloys and the electronic basis of the information revolution. Employers and university admissions tutors regard physics as a valuable A-level. It is greatly respected for demonstrating a high level of intellectual ability particularly in logical thought and systematic analysis.
