This qualification is the practical element of the full Gym Instructor qualification for candidates wishing to work in the health and fitness industry. On completion you will be qualified to work as a freelance selfemployed gym instructor or at a health leisure and fitness centre or you may go on to complete the Level 3 Personal Trainer certificate. The course is offered at both South Devon College and Newton Abbot Leisure Centre and is available in the afternoon evenings or as an intensive short course. The units covered are: 1. How to plan and teach safe and effective exercise sessions2. The principles of training3. How to adapt exercise to suit varied fitness levels4. How to use a range of teaching skills5. The body's systems and its responses to exercise6. Health and safety factors7. How to motivate and support clients.
