This course is for people looking to get into the legal profession, become a police officer or simply for those who want to find out more about the role of the justice system. A Level Law gives you an understanding of how the legal system works and not just what the law is. It looks at the roles of legal professionals as well as how laws are made. Law does have a large amount of material to read and digest, especially with respect to specific distinctions between cases that have come before the courts as, unsurprisingly, there is an exception to every rule! You will be expected to know and use case names where appropriate in your answers and be encouraged to apply the legal knowledge that you gain throughout the course to different legal scenarios to explain the likely outcome of a particular case. The course covers key topics about the English legal system including how laws are made, how the courts work to the procedures around trying a defendant in court and the punishments available.
