The aim of this course is to develop knowledge, understanding and application of Health and Social Care needs in relevant practical settings. Health and Social Care considers the needs of all individuals within society which ranges from babies to the elderly. You will also develop practical application of skills that will help you in future vocational work through 100 hours of hands on work experience within your chosen specialist area if you are completing the diploma qualification. The expectations to be successful are, on top of taught structured lessons, students thoroughly engage in research and independent learning outside of the classroom. You will be expected to plan and carry out tasks in which you will: Analyse current issues and problems Identify, gather and record relevant information and evidence Analyse and evaluate evidence Make reasoned judgements presenting conclusions At S6C, we will be studying eight units over the two years, two of which are externally assessed as an exam. The Extended Certificate is equivalent to 1 A Level and the Diploma is equivalent to 2 A Levels at the end of year 2.
