English Language and Literature A level

UPDATED 20160309 13:08:21

The uniqueness of this course is the integration of language and literature which enables you to explore the links between linguistic and literary methods in a variety of spoken, written and multi-modal texts. You will learn to study creatively, critically and independently developing your subject expertise via concepts about the way language choices create representations in the literary world and beyond. You will gain insights into a range of modes and genres and develop skills as producers and interpreters of language by creating your own texts and reflecting critically on the process of production. You will benefit from a wide range of assessment styles and in the second year there is an opportunity to produce research based investigative writing (NEA) in an area of your choice. All the skills you will develop will be invaluable in both future study and future employment.
