A level Dance is a dynamic qualification, which enables students to develop their creative, physical, emotional and intellectual capacity. Students will extend their performance and choreographic skills both as a soloist and within a group context. They will learn to select appropriate constituent features and to use choreographic devices and structures. Students will engage in critical analysis reflecting upon their own practice and will develop their knowledge and understanding of an area of study selected from Modern dance, Ballet and Jazz. As a compulsory aspect, students will undertake an in depth study of the Rambert Dance Company and at least two works from associated practitioners. The work of the choreographer Christopher Bruce and further professional performances broadens the depth of knowledge at Advanced level.
