The 90 Credit L3 Diploma is stage 1 of a two year, full-time programme, leading to the BTEC Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production. This course offers intensive professional production-based education and training across the four major media languages of: Print, Radio, Film & TV and Journalism. You will be taught by a team of professionals with huge experience in journalism, film-making, publishing and broadcasting. As well as developing a very sound understanding of these languages through theory and research Additional study in Film theory and photography will develop competencies in visual language, for those from a non-art background and academic research and writing skills, essential for progression to higher education and much of the media workplace. You will gain good, work related experience of practical production assignments which involve considerable teamwork and specialist expertise. As well as preparing you for progression to specialist production based careers, the creative media production course offers many unique opportunities to build a professional portfolio by working on 'real life' industry projects. By the end of the first year you will have made films for local businesses that are published onto company websites, been given the opportunity to submit stories/reviews for Tag magazine and working collaboratively with Art & design department to film and edit their fashion show. If you join the programme without a Maths GCSE at C or above, then you will study maths alongside your course.
