The 90 Credit Diploma in IT course (Business) is a 'general' IT course offering a variety of different units of study. It is a full-time course, and forms the first year of a possible two-year course with the achievement of an Extended Diploma in the second year. Similar to the structure of A Levels, the 90 Credit Diploma is equivalent to 1 ½ A Levels and, once the second year is completed and achieved, has the equivalence to 3 A Levels. During the first year, the units of study cover many aspects of the wide subject of IT, including Website Production, e-Commerce, Event Driven Programming, IT Technical Support and Database Design. There are some 'Core' units of study that include Computer Systems and Communication and Employability Skills for IT. Learners who study this 90 Credit Diploma qualification will need to embrace the forever changing technologies of IT. This is predominantly a software based course, where your knowledge of software applications will be enhanced. You will be able to create interactive websites that include many different features. You will create some software programs that perform different tasks using Visual Basic as well as have a firm understanding of relational databases, develop the skills necessary to design, create, populate and test a relational database incorporating advanced features. You will be equipped with the knowledge of how to problem solve as well as to work effectively in teams and exchange ideas with others.
