In Unit 3 you will take the ideas from AS further through studying theory in more depth and applying them to issues in Communication. It also involves the exploration of cultural practices such as 'fictions' that are transmitted through - for example - fairytales or the News. We also consider cultural products for example how Apple creates technological objects of desire. In Unit 4 you explore these further in an independent written study and a creative media piece on a subject of your choice. Previous examples have included the cultural meanings of celebrities wearing fur, leading to a documentary, and the exploration of how McDonalds target children developed into a short horror film.
