HORTICULTURE - LEVEL 1

This practical course is an introduction to horticulture in the land-based industries where you will get the right skills to go on to the Level 2 in Horticulture or into employment. The course is suitable for school leavers and adults who want to develop personal skills and qualities required for work in the land-based industry, particularly horticulture. You will study the following: * Communicating in a practical environment * Developing practical skills and techniques * Health and safety in a practical environment * Customer service skills * Use of materials in a practical activity * Use tools and equipment for a practical activity All students aged 16 -19 are required to study Functional Skills English and maths qualifications or GCSE mathematics and English if not already awarded a grade A*-C in these subjects. If you have a grade D at GCSE you will study maths and/or English GCSE. Students with a grade lower than D will work towards GCSE through the study of maths and English Functional Skills. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment. All LMC students will receive tutorial support.
